Helping students know God and make Him knowN
Partners
At Harvest, the main objectives of our youth ministry are to partner with parents, mentor our students and provide the answers to the “why’s” of the Christian faith in a way that students in 6th-12th grade can understand.
If we don’t discuss how God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, the cross, the resurrection, the Church, the great commission, and other essential matters of the faith fit into their world, many teens won’t understand why they should even bother.
Darius Brown teaches our High School ministry and Ariel Ortega teaches our Jr. High ministry.
Community
The Lounge is designed to encourage and challenge our 6th-12th grade students to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus and to build godly friendships with other students.
People are social beings. Teens have a desire and need to be part of a community. We aim to fill their need for community while at the same time point them to the gospel.
We also like to have fun and hang out with our students. From doing activities together outside the church or just chatting, community is important.
Purpose and Growth
Teens need to recognize the mission and purpose God has for them. To know how to share the good news of Jesus Christ with friends and family, which contributes to their overall spiritual development.
We encourage our students to bring friends who do not know the Gospel. To have a heart for the lost and least of these. Our aim is to help them grow through prayer, Bible study, small group discussion, and service opportunities. Teaching them how they can live to know and honor God right now as teenagers. is very important to us at Harvest.
Vulnerability
If we are honest, we all need a safe place to be vulnerable. Don’t we long for the chance to be ourselves? To be loved and accepted as we are? Don’t we all want to be enough?
Few places like that exist in this world, but we make it a point to be a place where teens can ask honest questions, share genuine struggles, and deal with real problems. We want to help our teens become mature followers of Jesus Christ.
